  Seattle

ARTI chief, Doug Copp, arrived in Seattle, as a result of this letter.

We are going to use this as our rallying call to stop children from being killed.

If you have a personal story of surviving in a triangle of life or your family being killed, by crawling under something please send us an email. amerrescue@aol.com

It has been our personal experience that thousands of people have died simply because they got under something and were crushed to death. This must stop! Enough is enough!!

When ARTI Chief Doug Copp saw the city council of Seattle (on the FOX NEWS prime time special Earthquake which Doug Copp appeared five times, and the network, stated "DO NOT DUCK AND COVER!" "We repeat; DO NOT DUCK AND COVER! You will probably be crushed to death") get under a desk, it made Doug Copp feel like he was watching children running around on the freeway with blindfolds on. .

Letter about Duck and Cover from Anita.

dated 3/2/01 4:19:02 PM Pacific Standard Time

Dear Doug Copp,

I just received a call from Mr. Chad Avit, Editor of the former publication American Survival Guide. It was in this magazine that I read of the Triangle of Life. I immediately called all my relatives and told them, and have been telling everyone who will listen ever since. But I never went to the schools. Anyway, Chad gave me some information, including your website address.

Doug, I taught my daughter, 13, about the Triangle of Life, and what to do in an earthquake. On Wednesday, she employed it for real, as the earthquake struck while she was attending Highland Middle School in Bellevue, Washington. She got next to a table as we had drilled and planned.

What happened to her is why I am writing to you, and may well result in a career shift for me. Her science teacher, you know, the guy who teaches about physics and all, kicked her and shouted at her until she got under the table!

Well, I have got to do something. She's okay and we're not talking about being upset that somebody mistreated my little girl, but we ARE talking about I'm shocked and appalled about a lack of information that constitutes an international emergency, and I have just been given the motivation I need to help get it out.

I was in downtown Seattle when the quake struck. Absolutely no one appeared to know what to do. (Except two contract engineers, who were the first ones out of the building I was in...) I was among many people that day, listening to radio stations, and not once, nowhere, did anyone know a thing about the Triangle of Life. Everyone talked about getting in doorways and getting under things. The d.j.'s enthusiastically promoted the warning.

My daughter stood in a classroom the next day and asked the teacher, "How much concrete do you think is up there? And the teacher replied something about several hundred tons. She showed him the little spindly leg of her desk. "Do you think that's going to hold up under all that? No, I didn't think you would. What you will have when you put us under the desk is Children Soup!" She reported that there was a glimmer of understanding on his face, so there is hope. I am ready to talk now. She wants an assembly now. I want people to listen now. I don't have a TV, and it looks like I am close to the only one in Seattle who has heard of the Triangle of Life. The TV is not getting it out. It has to be done face to face.

Get me started, will you?
